The MSD suit that was saved on the day Welgama was attacked is kept in a souvenir

The CID has arrested a man for assaulting MP Kumara Welgama and his security guard and possessing a uniform shirt worn by a ministerial security officer as a souvenir.

The 32 year old suspect is a resident of Homagama.

The shirt was in his possession and was taken into custody by the CID.

When questioned, he told the CID that he had taken off his shirt after attacking the minister's bodyguard because he liked the name MSD (Ministerial Security Division) on the uniform.

Kumara Welgama, a Member of Parliament and his security guard were assaulted and seriously injured in the Makumbura area at the entrance to the Homagama Southern Expressway.

One of the suspects was in possession of the ministerial security shirt worn by the officer in charge of the Ministerial Security Division as a souvenir.

The CID is conducting further investigations.
