The reason for importing gas from an Oman company without giving it to Siam Gas Company

Co-Cabinet Spokesman Mahinda Amaraweera says that Oman Trading Company had to award the tender due to a delay in the supply of gas to Thailand's Siam Gas Company despite proposals to supply gas to Sri Lanka at a lower price.

The Minister was responding to a question raised by a journalist at a media briefing today (June 21).

Mr. Amaraweera said that if any country or company offered to supply gas at a lower price subject to the conditions in the country, it would definitely agree.

Commenting further on this, he said:

“Siam Gas Company offered a lower price but they were not able to supply gas on time. We were presented with a cabinet paper. The gas was not supplied on the day they announced. It was said that there were no ships to transport. We could not bear it until it was too late and that is why we had to go back to the previous bidder. Go without gas. ”
