The Russian Foreign Ministry has commended the decision to send back to Russia the aircraft belonging to the Russian "Aeroflot" airline that was detained in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it would like to thank all Sri Lankan government officials for their efforts in resolving the situation.

Following a complaint lodged by an Irish company, a Colombo Commercial High Court judge issued an enjoining order on the 2nd of this month suspending the flight of an Aeroflot flight from Katunayake to Moscow.

However, the Colombo Commercial High Court yesterday ordered the suspension of the enjoining order preventing the Russian plane from leaving Sri Lanka.

The video above shows the relevant officials who went and informed the crew of the Russian plane and expressed their regret over the incident and said that they were free to leave the country.

Accordingly, the Russian Aeroflot flight departed from Katunayake Airport yesterday (06) evening.
