While coal power plants are supplying electricity, several hydro power plants are shut down

 

The Public Utilities Commission says that all coal power plants generate electricity at full capacity and are connected to the national grid.

Its chairman Janaka Ratnayake said that some hydropower plants were not operational due to trade union action.

Accordingly, the Laxapana, Canyon, Wimalasurendra and Polpitiya hydro power plants will not operate without the instructions of the CEB system control unit, he added.
