"A chance for a new mandate should be given soon": Anura's speech in Parliament

Janata Vimukti Peramuna leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that Parliament has shown a distorted reflection of the will of the people today (July 20).

He mentioned this while speaking after the election of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the new President in Parliament today (July 20).

Mr. Dissanayake mentioned that he knew the result of the election when he ran as a presidential candidate.

Therefore, he said that he was not surprised by the announced results of the polls.

"I don't think that the type of government formed in this parliament will have integrity to rule this country for a long time. Therefore, a new mandate should be given very quickly."

Janatha Vimukti Peramuna leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake got 3 votes in the polling held today in Parliament to elect the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka.
