A special notice from the Police Headquarters about advertisements posted on social media

According to the instructions of the Ministry of Public Security, the police headquarters has focused on people who publish, prepare, distribute and circulate advertisements on social media networks threatening parliamentarians.


In a statement, the Police Media Division stated that it has been observed that advertisements are being published on social media networks threatening parliamentarians.


Accordingly, the Police Headquarters has instructed the Computer Crime Investigation Division under the DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department to enforce the law against such persons.


Meanwhile, Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe had instructed the security forces to initiate an investigation into people who are influencing people through social media by blocking the right of parliamentarians to vote freely in the elections to be held for the selection of the successor president.
