Father Cyril Gamini Fernando, the media spokesman of the Catholic Church, accused that a vile attempt to use the Easter attack to come to power is being carried out as it was then.

He questioned how Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was sitting on the Prime Minister's chair at that time but did not take action to do justice even though the Easter attack took place at that time, can do justice today with international support.

Father Cyril Gamini also accused him of trying to gain presidential power by coming on the blood of dead people.

He said this while attending a press conference held yesterday (July 19) at the Archbishop's official residence.

Father Cyril Gamini also mentioned that by making a statement at a time when a vote is being held to elect a successor president without conducting an independent investigation into the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday, despite having the ability to have executive powers, it is felt that the Easter attack is gaining some impetus to gain power.

He also said that Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was in power until seven months after the Easter attack, talked about something he did not do at that time.

At the same time, Father also said that these statements made without conducting an independent investigation with international support through the Scotland Yard Police are just deception.

He emphasized that it was an insult to the Easter victims and to the people including himself who expected fairness and justice.

Father Cyril Gamini accused that it is a disgraceful attempt to gain presidential power on the basis of the struggle of the people who raised their voice for justice for so long, on the blood of the dead people, on the tears and pains of the victims.

He also emphasized that they should not try to deceive the people through such things and that the people are not ready to be deceived by the deceitful and deceptive efforts of the politicians.

The father also said that no matter what kind of government appoints a president or a prime minister, the struggle to get justice for the Easter attack will continue.

He further said that the law will not stop until fairness and justice are fulfilled.
