Gas ship to the island


The President's Office said in a statement that the ship carrying gas has reached the coast of the country.


It said that the second ship carrying 3,740 metric tons of gas is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (July 11) evening.


The President's Office also said that the President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed the officers to carry out the unloading and distribution of the gas as soon as the ship arrived at Kerawalapitiya at 3:00 pm today.


The third ship with 3,200 metric tons of gas will arrive in Sri Lanka on July 15 and the amount of gas ordered for this month is 33,000 metric tons, the President's Office stated.


Litro President Muditha Peiris stated that since July 12, gas distribution will be normal and systematic and the problem regarding domestic gas demand will be completely avoided by the end of this month.
