President Gotabaya Rajapaksa visited the Parliament today (July 5).
The President, who came without prior notice, sat next to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Then, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe made a special statement about the discussions with the International Monetary Fund and the current economic situation of the country, and at that time the opposition MPs interrupted and expressed their opposition to the President.
There, the MPs protested the President by shouting "Gotta Go Home" and the affairs of the House got heated.
However, the President remained in his seat and as the protest continued to escalate, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House for 10 minutes.
At that time, the scene of the House was recorded on the mobile phone of the Member of Parliament, Mr. Harsha De Silva, and it showed the President leaving the House amid protests.
After 10 minutes, the House met again and at that time the President was not seen in the House.
