Minister of Electricity and Energy, says that a Malaysian company has confirmed that it will deliver 50,000 metric tons of petrol and 10,000 metric tons of kerosene to Sri Lanka on July 10 or 11.
At a press conference held today (July 3), the minister mentioned that the Malaysian government has also approved it.
He mentioned that the concerned Malaysian company is trying to deliver the stock of 50,000 metric tons of petrol to Sri Lanka in two stages.
Further stated that the concerned company has not yet given any information about the petrol ship and that it is expected to bring the ship to Sri Lanka on July 10 or 11.
“I hope to have some definite information by tonight or tomorrow morning. The Malaysian government has also given a lot of support. Accordingly, we hope to get those two ships and arrange to get the petrol ship within the two days of July 10 or 11. In the meantime, we are also discussing other options that can be obtained within the two days of the 10th and 11th, if the petrol ship provided to us by the intervention of the Malaysian government does not arrive on the 10th or 11th for some reason. We are also discussing this with the Indian IOC."
