Ranil's swearing in tomorrow

It is reported that Ranil Wickramasinghe will be sworn in as the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka tomorrow (July 21) morning at the Parliament Complex.

Although we have tried to confirm it officially, no official announcement has been issued in this regard so far.

The parliamentary voting for the election of the successor president was held this morning in the parliament where Ranil Wickramasinghe was elected as the new president by an absolute majority vote.

He got 134 votes in the poll.

Dallas Alahapperum got 82 votes and Anura Kumara Dissanayake got only 3 votes.

Accordingly, Ranil Wickramasinghe will serve as the Executive President of the country during the remainder of Gotabaya Rajapaksa's presidency and he will also make history as the first elected succeeding President in the history of the Sri Lankan Parliament.
