Investigations by the Copa Committee have revealed that the temperature in the warehouses of the Medical Supplies Division was not maintained properly and that most of the drugs were stored in the corridors of the Medical Supplies Central Hospital and in the hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the Ministry pointed out to the committee that if there is a system to detect the failure of the drug as soon as it is received, the loss can be recovered from the suppliers' guarantee and if the quality inspection of 60 drugs can be carried out by the State Pharmaceutical Corporation, this situation can be avoided to some extent. has.

The Committee has directed the Secretary to the Ministry to recover the cost of medicines or medical supplies that have failed from the standard, instead of charging the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation from the relevant suppliers.

The Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts, Prof. Tissa Vitarana presented this information in Parliament on the 20th of this month.
