The house and hotel of a woman named 'Gnana Meniyan' who runs a famous devalaya in the Isurupura area in Anuradhapura were raided and the property was looted and set on fire. He was arrested by the Anuradhapura Divisional Crime Division.
The suspects are residents of Wanniyankulama, Kirikkulama, Thammannapura and Matale Junction areas in Anuradhapura.
Police say they have seized three stolen television sets, a table lamp and a statue of an elephant made of copper which was stolen from the temple.
A group of rioters had attacked the woman's house on the New Kandy Road in Anuradhapura on the night of the 9th and until the next morning, damaging her property and setting it on fire.
The group then attacked and set fire to a hotel allegedly owned by the woman near the Medical Corps camp on the Anuradhapura New Kandy Road.
The arrested suspects were to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court.

Karunaratne, P. ප. Sarachchandra P.Sc. Bandara (48317), p. Sat. Officers including Nishan (61406), (48346), Tharindu (78621), Rajaratne (66934) conducted the raid and arrested the suspects.
