Are there any facilities in Sri Lanka to identify Monkeypox?


Dr. Chandima Jeevindara says that all the infrastructure required to test and diagnose monkeypox is available in the laboratories of the Institute of Allergy Immunology and Cell Biology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. At least 80 monkeypox cases have been reported in at least 12 countries, according to foreign media reports.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says 50 more patients have been diagnosed with the disease and are being tested for the virus.

Patients have been diagnosed with the virus in nine European countries, as well as the United States, Canada and Australia.

Monkeypox is an infectious disease of monkeys and is a Zooonotic disease.

Zoonotic is a disease that is transmitted from animal to human and can be transmitted from person to person, according to the World Health Organization.

Symptoms of monkey flu include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, itchy skin, or bruising.
