Rajawatte Vappa Anunahimiya requested all Chief Incumbents to ring bells in all temples from 8.30 am to 9.00 am today in support of the hartal to be held island wide today, May 6.
He made this request while addressing a media briefing held at the Jayagdhararamaya in Rajagiriya today.
He further said that the temple also feels the pressure of the people and the Maha Sangha will support the struggle on behalf of the people irrespective of party affiliation.
"The people of the country are suffering. We feel strongly for the temple as well. The people in the village and the city are giving alms to those who can not afford it.
We request all temples to ring bells from 8.30 am to 9.00 am in support of tomorrow's hartal. People are also being asked to blow the horn of a vehicle on the road. "
