The Samagi Jana Balawega alleges that the re-appointment of Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, who had previously resigned as the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, is a 'deal'.
Dr. Harsha de Silva, a Member of Parliament for the party, said in a Twitter message that the deal was a joint venture between President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Sri Lanka People's Front and so-called independent groups.
He has pointed out that the victory of their common candidate Ranjith Siyambalapitiya with the 148 members of the group shows that only 65 members are with the protesters.
Meanwhile, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said in Parliament that his re-appointment to the post of Deputy Speaker was made with the support of the Opposition.
However, Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said that Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was not an Opposition candidate but only Imtiaz Bakir Marker.
