The Supreme Court today (May 31) ordered the CID to arrest former parliamentarian Duminda Silva immediately.
The Supreme Court issued the order following an interim order suspending the decision to release him under a presidential amnesty with immediate effect.
The Supreme Court has also issued an interim order restraining the former parliamentarian from traveling abroad and handing over his passport.
The order was issued after considering a petition filed by former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra and her mother Sumana Premachandra and three others in the Supreme Court.
The petition was taken up before a bench of Justices Yasantha Kodagoda, Preethi Padman Surasena and Achala Wengappuli.
