The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has once again created a severe diesel shortage in the country, according to top sources. Due to this the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has taken steps to restrict the distribution of diesel to petrol stations.
The next diesel ship is expected to arrive in the last few days of this month and arrangements have been made to restrict the supply of diesel until that time, the spokesman said.
The last time a diesel ship arrived in Sri Lanka on the 21st was with 40,000 metric tons of diesel. It was received by Sri Lanka under an Indian loan and a large portion of the diesel stock has been allocated for power plants and public transport.
Bowser drivers said they had been instructed to distribute only 6,600 liters of diesel to one petrol station.
Due to this situation, it is observed that long queues of diesel have resumed at many petrol stations in the island.
