Fishermen also stop their industry due to lack of fuel

It is said that 2,000 fishing boats fishing off the coast from Mullivaikkal to Kokilai in Mullaitivu have been without fuel for about 20 days.

About 2,000 fishing boats have been registered for refueling off the coast from Mullivaikkal to Nayaru and from Nayaru to Kokilai, but the problem has been compounded by a lack of fuel so far.

Fishermen are registered to refuel 400 fishing boats at the Puthukudiirippu petrol station, 800 boats at the Mullaitivu petrol station and 800 boats at the Nayaru filling station.

Mullaitivu fishermen are also suffering due to the sale of fuel for fishing vessels at exorbitant prices and the Mullaitivu fishermen are requesting the authorities to provide fuel for the fishermen immediately.

Due to the lack of fuel, all daily fishing activities have come to a standstill.

Mullaitivu fishermen say that the Mullaitivu fishing industry will collapse if they do not get fuel in the next few days as the economy of the fishermen has collapsed and they are facing many problems.
