The Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera says that Sri Lanka is also taking all necessary steps to face the food crisis facing the world.
Speaking to the media, the Minister said that all public servants are requested to cultivate every plot of land that can be cultivated.
He also stated that it has been decided to temporarily take over private lands which are not cultivated at present and cultivate them.
Commenting further on this, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera said.
"The only way to get rid of the food crisis in the future is to work together," he said. Therefore, I would like to remind you of the importance of access to the work of cultivating anything wherever it can be cultivated.
We are going to request all public servants to have access to the cultivation activities in the area where the sites are located. Similarly, the government gives a decision on the fact that it is not necessary to work for 5 days. So instead of wasting that remaining time, take the necessary steps to cultivate something in your backyard.
Similarly, a large number of private lands are not cultivated and it is decided to take over them temporarily and cultivate them. Therefore, we are activating the cultivation war throughout the country and taking all necessary steps to prepare ourselves to face the food crisis facing the world. We will make our full commitment to that end. ”
