Thriposha factory closes without soy-maize !

The government Thriposha factory, which produces Thriposha, a free food supplement, has also been closed due to lack of maize and soy.

It is reported that large scale companies that produce supplements similar to Thriposha have also reduced their production due to the shortage of raw material.

also revealed that many small scale businesses that produce supplements using maize and soy have been closed down.

Mahesh Thawalampola, CEO of Thriposha Ceylon Food Products Company, told that there is a shortage of maize in the country at present and that if farmers cultivate maize next October, they will be able to produce from its harvest.

He said that the reason for not cultivating in the Yala season was the shortage of urea. Therefore, the government should take steps to provide subsidies and encourage maize farmers, he said.

Annual consumption of maize in the country is around three and a half metric tons.
