4 oil tankers in port without dollars to pay

According to internal sources of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, four fuel tankers that have been imported to Sri Lanka have been anchored in the Colombo Outer Harbor for several days now due to their inability to pay more than $ 180 million.

The sources said that two ships carrying diesel, petrol and crude oil were anchored in the area and the ships would have to pay late fees due to lack of dollars to release them.

It is reported that the two ships have more than 40,000 metric tons of diesel and petrol and the Ministry of Energy has discussed with the Ministry of Finance on several occasions to obtain these two ships expeditiously.

However, due to the non-allocation of funds, the two diesel and petrol ships have been anchored in the Colombo Outer Harbor for more than four days, according to internal sources of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

The sources further said that if the two ships of diesel and petrol had been acquired before the 10th of this month, the current acute fuel shortage would have been alleviated to some extent.
