Poson Full Moon Poya

Today (June 14) is the full moon day of Poson, the day when the Buddhist people of Sri Lanka perform the Amisa and Pratipatti Poojas with great devotion.

This historic Poson Poya Day event was instrumental in the social, cultural, religious and spiritual development of Sri Lankan society.

The magnificent visit of Mahinda Rajapaksa during the reign of King Devanam Piyatissa not only illuminated Anuradhapura and Mihintale but also illuminated the Sri Lankan society.

Since then, Buddhists have commemorated Arahant Mahinda on the day of Poson Pura Poya with the Amisa and Pratipatti Pooja, and have been engaged in the Amisa and Pratipatti Pooja, approving the merits.
