A 12-year-old schoolgirl from Munkilaru, Mullaitivu has gone missing following a complaint that she was in the Hatton area, according to the Puthukudiirippu Police.
On June 6, the girl's father informed the police that the girl had disappeared from the house with a letter and money and a mobile phone.
The letter, which is suspected to have been written by the girl, states, "Dad, I'm sorry. I'm leaving this house. Don't bother looking for me, just call this number, ”police said.
However, the police, including the girl's father, had been calling the relevant number since yesterday but could not be reached due to the deactivation and the girl could be contacted today, June 07, police said.
According to the information received, the schoolgirl had gone to the Hatton area and it is suspected that she had met a man through a known acquaintance from a social media network Tik Tok.
Puthukudiirippu Police further stated that the girl's father and other relatives have taken steps to search for the girl and bring her back home on June 07.
