A request from the grandmother to save her grandson who is addicted to drugs


The Minuwangoda Magistrate, T. Wijewardena, Ms. Thenabadu ordered the Negombo Prisons Authority on the 22nd to admit the suspect to the Kandakadu Training School for one year.


Kotadeniyawa Police arrested the suspect with 85 milligrams of heroin and produced him before court. When the case was taken up, the suspect's grandmother had submitted an affidavit to the court with the assistance of a lawyer and the suspect was admitted to the rehabilitation school.


The suspect is a resident of Kotadeniyawa, Waradala area. The court heard that the suspect's wife had also left the suspect as he was heavily addicted to heroin. The court further stated that the 34 year old suspect's two children are being maintained by his grandmother and that the suspect has been harassing his grandmother by repeatedly asking for money for heroin.
