Buses stopped in several areas due to lack of fuel

Gemunu Wijeratne, President of the Private Bus Owners' Association says that bus services in several areas will be completely disrupted on June 6.

He told the media that statistically, between 10% and 15% of buses will run on June 6.

Accordingly, buses will not be fully operated in the Southern Province, Gampaha District, Mannanarama, Vavuniya, Kegalle, Mawanella, Polonnaruwa, Badulla and Puttalam, said Gemunu Wijeratne.

Commenting further on this, the Chairman said,

"It simply came to our notice then. These are the areas where diesel was not provided by the SLTB depots. We did not have to obtain diesel from these areas through the SLTB. I make it clear that the full responsibility lies with the relevant authorities as well as the Minister of Power and Energy in this regard. Because the public transport service did not do what it needed to do. We see that the ministers have also become somewhat silent on this fuel restriction. ”
