Easter petition against Maithri-Ranil to be heard continuously



The Supreme Court yesterday (June 6) directed the Supreme Court to hear the petitions against former President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, former IGP and Defense Secretary and others responsible for failing to prevent a series of suicide bombings on Easter Sunday.  


All the petitions filed by Archbishop (Cardinal) Malcolm Ranjin and other clergy are being heard before this seven-member tribunal.


Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Justice Buwaneka Aluvihare, Justice N.B. Murdu Fernando, Judge LTTE Dehideniya, Judge Shiran Gunaratne, Judge AHMD Nawaz and Judge S. The petition will be heard before a bench of Justices Thurairajah.


At the request of President's Counsel Shamil Perera, who appeared for Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith yesterday, it was decided to continue hearing the petition.
