Public servants are now registered for foreign employment

Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara stated that public servants who wish to leave for foreign employment are now given the opportunity to register with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.

Accordingly, they can access the website of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and enter their information, he said.

The Minister said that with the intervention of the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment, an expeditious program has been launched to bring in the required foreign exchange to the country and steps have been taken to provide the opportunity for public servants to go abroad for employment.

The Minister also stated that he intends to hold discussions with the Ministry of Public Administration to issue the necessary circulars to allow public servants to go abroad without any hindrance to their pensions and seniority.

During a discussion with foreign employment agency owners yesterday (June 6) morning, the Minister said that foreign employment agencies play a vital role in finding employment opportunities for government employees when they go abroad.
