Maithripala Sirisena's Twitter message about the current Sri Lankan government to Russia

Former President Maithripala Sirisena has released a Twitter message regarding the situation regarding the Aeroflot aircraft.

It said it was "deeply saddened" by the current government's handling of the long-standing historical ties between Russia and Sri Lanka.

The Sinhala translation of his Twitter message is as follows.

“Russia has been our old friend since the Soviet era. That historic relationship was further strengthened during my presidency. Today, I am deeply saddened by the way the current government is acting as a threat to the long-standing historical ties between Russia and Sri Lanka. ”

However, Russia reports that an insect was found in a stockpile of Sri Lankan tea when Maithripala Sirisena took steps to ban the import of asbestos during his presidency.

As a result, the Sri Lankan tea industry faced a crisis.
