The government has taken steps to replace the existing housing complex in Madiwala with a new housing scheme called 'Viyathpura' in Pannipitiya.

Accordingly, 101 housing units from Tower B of the Pannipitiya Viyathpura Housing Project are being prepared to be handed over to Members of Parliament.

The Pannipitiya Viyathpura Middle Class Housing Project with 500 housing units has decided to allocate 101 housing units in Tower B as official residences for Members of Parliament.

The housing units are 750,950 and 1,050 square feet and the value of a housing unit ranges from Rupees. 14.02 million to Rupees. 19.8 million.

The Treasury has agreed to release an estimated estimate of Rupees. 1,795.34 million for 101 housing units of this project in the year 2022 and to release 507% of this amount of Rupees. 897.67 million to the Housing Authority in the second quarter of 2022 to cover the expenses of the contractors. A cabinet paper states that.

The President has requested the Urban Development Authority (UDA) to give priority to the MPs whose houses were destroyed due to the unrest in the country on May 9, 2022, and if there are any more MPs who have agreed to buy houses, to provide such facilities.

The cabinet paper also states that if the wife of the deceased MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala buys a house in this housing project, she should be given the opportunity to do so.

The 200 housing units in this housing project are built on a pre-sale basis for middle-income people. Out of this Rupees. 1267.07 million has been received by the Urban Development Authority and another 50 houses have been handed over to the Navy.

The Navy has already paid Rupees. 334.07 million and another Rupees. 328.14 million is due.

The existing MP housing complex in Madiwela is to be handed over to the Urban Development Authority for development work.
