Steps have been taken to hand over a container of apples imported from China to the Colombo Port to the Dehiwala Zoo.

The Apple container was imported last February.

The move comes after importers failed to release the stock of apples and hand them over to animals before they become unusable.

The Ports Authority says that there were 24,000 kilograms of apples in this area and its gross value is close to 20 million rupees.
