The Russian President will take a tough decision on this - Russian tourists !

"We arrived in Sri Lanka for a 14 - day visit. We were currently in Hikkaduwa. Due to the emergency situation, the Russian government informed us to suspend the tour and return. , We arrived at the Katunayake Airport for the last flight of this Russian Aeroflot, ”said Elena Mesenkova, a Russian national at the Katunayake Airport departure terminal on 06/05 at 10.00 am.

"The Russian government has previously told us that it is suitable for a visit to Sri Lanka. But we were shocked by this sudden situation.

We did not have diesel to travel in this country. Not enough power cuts. Despite all these problems, we gladly visited Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka gets dollars because of our Russian tourists. But due to this decision, Sri Lanka loses that status. The Russian president will take a tough decision on this incident.

Accordingly, the Russian government has informed us to immediately suspend our existing visits to Sri Lanka and return, ”Elena Mesenkova said in Russian.

She added that no Russian tourist would ever visit Sri Lanka again for fear of such an incident.

Despite a written agreement between the Russian government and the Sri Lankan authorities, it is surprising that despite a complaint from a small insurance company in a western country, thousands of Russian tourists have been left stranded in this way, challenging Sri Lanka's tourism industry in the future, a major source of foreign exchange. She also mentioned.

Muditha Mevan Kumara, the tour guide of the group, came forward to translate her ideas into Sinhala.
