Two people have died after consuming excessive amounts of alcohol and drugs

Two persons have died in the Uyilankulama area in the Mannar Police Division due to excessive use of alcohol and drugs.

Police said that four persons traveling in a car in the Uyilankulama area were admitted to the Mannar Hospital yesterday (May 31) morning and later succumbed to their injuries.

The victims were aged 26 and 34 and residents of Talaimannar and Pesalai areas.

The post mortem was conducted at the Jaffna General Hospital after the body was reported to the Mannar Magistrate's Court.

The forensic pathologist stated that the two had died due to excessive use of alcohol and drugs, police said.

The other two men were discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.

Mannar Police are conducting further investigations.
