Human rights eye behind Kandakadu incidents

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has started an extensive investigation regarding the incident at Kandakadu Rehabilitation Camp, Polonnaruwa and it is reported that a team of officials has gone to Kandakadu Center for that purpose.

It was to investigate the conflict situation in the camp and the death of a detainee.

In this regard, the police have obtained many statements from the detainees who surrendered and were arrested, and most of them have said that the detainees inside the camp are brutally beaten.

It has also been revealed during police investigations that these inmates, who have been rehabilitated by the court for drug addiction, refuse to go back to the Kandakadu camp.

After the suspicious death of an inmate in the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Camp, more than six hundred inmates had run away from the camp on two occasions due to riotous behavior.
