"The elephant that crashed into Jackson's car has not been found yet: the photos circulating are fake" - Mahinda Amaraweera

The wild elephant that collided with the car in which veteran actor Jackson Anthony was traveling in a car accident recently has not yet been found, says the Co-Cabinet Spokesman for Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.

The minister stated this at the press conference to announce the cabinet decisions held today (July 5).

Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera said that 3 teams of the wildlife department have been sent to investigate and report on this.

"We have not found any elephants so far injured. We believe this elephant is safe. Some information has been received so far. Our officials are traveling along that route, so there has been no report of any serious danger to that elephant."

He mentioned that a photo of an injured elephant is currently circulating on social media and it is a photo of an elephant that was hit by a train in India.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jackson Anthony has undergone two surgeries and he is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the Colombo National Hospital, said the spokesperson of the hospital.
