Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala.
Accordingly, 21 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the murder, police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.
He stated that one of the arrested suspects was arrested on June 1 in the Veyangoda area.
The suspect, 19, was an employee of the same clothing store where the MP and security guard were killed, a police spokesman said.
The suspect is a resident of Kumbaloluwa, Nittambuwa.
The other suspect was arrested yesterday (June 2) in connection with the incident, a police spokesman said.
He said the suspect was a 40-year-old carpenter residing in the Pasyala area.
A police spokesman said the CID had seized the suspects' mobile phones and the clothes they were wearing at the time of the murder.
He further stated that the CID is conducting further investigations into the incident and the suspect is to be produced before the court.
