The Minister made this statement at a special media briefing held today (June 19).
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has already released the required sum of US $ 90 million, the Minister said.
He emphasized that this was the first time he had dealt with the relevant fuel suppliers and that it was therefore very challenging to obtain the first fuel tanker.
"I can definitely say that once again, getting the first ship is the most challenging task in dealing with these suppliers for the first time. Therefore, we are optimistic and positively believe that we are in the process of procuring two petrol and diesel ships on the 23rd and 24th.
Therefore, we especially hope that we will be able to ease the congestion by releasing more diesel within the next 10 days without any problems.
We are paying special attention to petrol. ”
