Fathima was educated in the fourth grade of Al Ghazali Vidyalaya, Atalugama. A gifted learner, she was a brilliant student at the school. Recognizing Fatima's talents, the teachers helped her with some of her personal affairs in addition to her academic work. She also won the hearts of the teachers at her school.
Growing up in a normal family, Fatima was more aware of family poverty and problems than her two older brothers. Her father was a drug addict. Therefore, he did not fulfill his duties as a husband and father to the family properly. The girl even offered to help her mother in any way she could.
The date is last 27th. That day Fatima's mother was getting ready to go to the butcher shop near the house. Seeing this, Fatima told her mother:
"Mom is going to the butcher shop, isn't she?"
"Yeah, I'm going to get some chicken."
“My sister is crying too. I'm going to stay with Mom. ”
"Can you go and get it?"
"Why can't I bring it?"
"Then be careful and get some chicken and come quickly."
“All right, Mom, don't be afraid. I'll get the meat soon. Take care of mom and sister. ”
She told her mother and took the money and went to the butcher shop. The butcher shop was about three hundred yards from her house. The butcher shop is located near the house, but at one point you have to pass a muddy swamp with bushes on either side. It's not an unfamiliar place for a little girl named Fatima. Not only her but the other children of the village pass the place without any fear or suspicion and walk alone. Fatima also passed the place and went to the butcher shop.
Three or four men were there when she went to the butcher shop. Among them was Mohamed Farooq. Farooq is a resident near Fatima's house. There is also a distant kinship. He smiled at Fatima and left the place. There was something evil in Farooq's smile. But not knowing that, Fatima turned to the girl and greeted him with a smile.
Mohamed Farooq is a 29-year-old father of three daughters. He worked as a Kottu bass. He was also heavily addicted to drugs. In terms of character, Farooq was not such a good man. Although a father of three daughters, he lived a drunken and promiscuous life without caring about it. He not only had casual relations with women but also tried to sexually harass women in various ways. Some did not even take him home. That is because he is more extreme than a beast.
Fatima's father ignored that and developed a close relationship with him. Because they were both addicted to drugs. Sometimes the two used drugs together. In addition, Fatima was closely associated with one of Farooq's daughters. At every opportunity, Fatima went to the house and played with her. At times, the little girl even went to the house naked and played. On one such occasion, Farooq even warned the girl to go back home and put on a dress. That is why Fatima's girl had a lot of respect for him.
Farooq had been drinking a lot of ice since that morning. As a result, he lost consciousness. Farooq came out of the butcher shop and stayed near the swamp until Fatima returned. Even then, the sinner had a low desire for a little girl named Fatima.
That little girl named Fatima bought meat and left to go back home. When she arrived, she saw in the distance Farouk near the swamp. She approached him and asked.
"What is Uncle Farooq doing from here?"
"No, daughter, I came home. Some of my stuff fell in here and I'm looking for it. ”
"Where did it fall?"
"Here it fell."
With that he reached out to the edge of the swamp.
"Okay Uncle then I'll go home."
"Can you help me before I go home?"
"What is that, uncle?"
"Can you find my lost belongings?"
"I do not know where it fell."
"Look, my daughter fell on the edge of the swamp." My leg hurts and it's hard to bend ”
"Then wait, uncle, I'll find out."
Accordingly, the little girl bent down and looked at the swamp. As soon as the girl looked at him, Farooq looked around and grabbed the girl and tried to kiss her. The agitated girl said, "Oh, uncle, what are you doing?" Let me go home. I am a little innocent child. ”
At that moment, the culprit, who was addicted to drugs and was suffering from lust, did not listen to the innocent request of the little girl. The criminal tried to rape the little girl. But he could not fulfill that low desire of his. The innocent girl was desperately trying to save her life. But she had no escape from this sinner.
Unable to fulfill the lowly desire in his heart, the criminal dragged the girl into the swamp just a few meters away. The culprit grabbed the little girl's leg by the knee and held her head in the swamp until she died. The cynic who had brutally murdered the girl hid her body in the same place and went home as if nothing had happened.
Fatima's mother looked after her daughter because she was late coming home. But no information about her could be found around the village. Accordingly she went to meet the butcher Mudalali. When the shopkeeper inquired about Fatima, he said that it had been more than an hour since she had left the shop with the chicken. Fatima's mother was even more frightened when she heard that.
"Find my baby," she lamented as she returned home. A few minutes later, a large crowd gathered near Fatima's house to hear her moan. The group then began searching for Fatima. But no one was able to find any information about her. Meanwhile, Fatima's mother went to the Bandaragama Police and lodged a complaint. Others informed the public about this on social media with a picture of Fathima. A few hours later, the whole country came to know about Fatima's disappearance through social media. Then the people of the country started talking about it. Thousands of people gathered in Atalugama to search for the little girl. In addition to the Bandaragama Police, three other police teams are investigating the disappearance of the girl, which has become a controversial event in the country.
Bandaragama Police launched an investigation into the incident. The officers who carried out investigations from various quarters also checked the CCTV in the area. They also paid special attention to a van parked near the shop where the girl had come to buy meat. The van belonged to a person in the Piliyandala area and the police found the person later that night and obtained a statement. It was revealed that the person had nothing to do with the disappearance. The man had come to the butcher shop to buy chicken. However, he was embarrassed by the false propaganda on social media that the number of his van had been published and that the girl had been abducted in that van. Some people not only scolded him but were even prepared to attack him. The driver of the van was greatly inconvenienced due to the false propaganda published on social media.
Fatima's killer nabbed!
When he was not involved, the police conducted an investigation and conducted a separate investigation into the drug addicts in the village. Bandaragama police concluded that no one had come outside regarding the disappearance of the girl and that a person from the village had been involved. But no information about the girl was found that night.
The next day dawned. On the same day, the police conducted various investigations into the disappearance of the girl. By noon, Bandaragama police officers were inspecting both sides of the swamp. Police, with the assistance of the villagers, searched both sides of the swamp. Farooq, the murderer who murdered the girl, was also involved in the search. The sinner looked at it with more interest than anyone else. By two in the afternoon, police were able to find the girl's body in the swamp.
Residents in the area were outraged when the body was found. With their behavior, the evidence there was also destroyed. With the destruction of the evidence, the police had lost the opportunity to get any clue about the suspect. But police did not give up. They were determined to find the suspect somehow.
Police were on the lookout for drug addicts in the area. Accordingly, the Bandaragama Police officers also became suspicious of Farook. He was arrested accordingly. When arrested and questioned, he said he knew nothing about it. But police did not give up. The police felt that he had something to do with the incident. Therefore, his wife was also arrested and questioned. There, the police continued to question Farooq's behavior the day before. In the face of those questions, his wife said:
"Our man was very upset when he found out about the disappearance of this girl. Sometimes he comes home and takes a bath. That evening he came home from Nala. I was thinking about that coming. I asked what it was. But no answer was given. It was just like being scared. Didn't even eat dinner. And he drank about twenty beedis in a row. I do not drink beedi like that again. But this also helped to find Fatima the next day. ”
With his wife's statement, the suspicion of the police officers was further confirmed. They learned that Farooq had something to do with the girl's death. Accordingly, the Bandaragama Police officers began to question him again. He could not hide the truth in such interrogation. This is what the culprit told the police without a word.
"Sir, this child is coming to our house. When I came to our house to play, I fell in love with this baby. That's been a few months now. That day this boy came to the shop to buy chicken. I was also in the shop then. By then I was still on the ice. When I saw the child, I was very excited. I thought today was the best day. With that in mind, I first came out of the shop and waited for the boy to come to the swamp. ”
“In the distance I saw the boy coming with chicken. When he approached, he picked her up and carried her through the cork. Then the boy shouted Uncle… Uncle අත leave me. Let me go. But I did not count them. He did not stop screaming. Then I tore the sarong from my shoulder and tied the boy's hands and two chickens. I'm scared, sir. I picked up the baby to fulfill my desire. But he was afraid he would tell his family. That boy wrestled with me. I closed my mouth. At that moment he lost consciousness. I was drowning him in the mud. ”
"I did not even take off the baby's clothes, sir, of course. I was scared at that time and I put him in the mud ”
That bastard who destroyed an innocent bunch of flowers will now say different things. But this little girl, who came out of her mouth without even the slightest hint of innocence to a Kura ant, was among the dead. The suspect is a relative of the mother of the slain Fatima girl. That mindless criminal has destroyed a girl the age of his daughter. What kind of punishment should be given to these scoundrels who are addicted to ice drugs? It has also been revealed that the suspect who killed the girl had gone to church after bathing in the water that day. It is said that the suspect had earlier gone down from the roof of a house in the same area and sexually assaulted a woman.
On the instructions of Panadura SSP Samantha Wedage and ASP Upali Thalagala, Bandaragama OIC Chief Inspector R. C. Rajapaksa, OIC of the Children and Women's Bureau P. V. Hemamali and other officers of the CID and the Director of the Kalutara Crimes Division ASP Rohan Olugala were conducting investigations into the incident.
With the murder of this girl we are reminded of several other such incidents. It is about the miserable memories of the brutal killing of children like Saman Kumara of Matugama, Sadeepa Lakshan, Vindhya of Jaffna, Seya Sadewmi of Kotadeniyawa. Fatima Aisha is the latest child to be among the innocent children killed. Such sinners should be punished in royal times as an example to the society as well.
There are many more such sinners in society. So no matter how busy you are, keep an eye on your child. Parents, remember that children are not only your first, second but also third duty. Otherwise, even your six or four unfamiliar milkmaids may have to face such unfortunate events.
