"I will present facts regarding the Aeroflot aircraft to the court Today" - The Minister of Aviation

Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva says that the Sri Lankan government has decided to take legal action against the Aeroflot aircraft in court.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the Attorney General will go to court on June 6 to present his case and settle the matter.

Nimal Siripala de Silva stated that immediate action should be taken within the legal framework to provide immediate relief to the aggrieved parties and to rectify this.

Commenting further on this, he said:

"There were about 191 passengers on board. These people could not find their way to their destination. I was in big trouble. It also had a problem sending Aeroflot aircraft as a result. It had an impact on our tourism industry in some way. To build the economy of this country and to bring more dollars to this country. Due to the situation that arose at the time of the establishment of the tourism industry, the government thought of going to court and legally presenting this decision and presenting new facts regarding the damage caused to the national economy, the damage done to the passengers and the legal background to this decision. Legal action should be taken within the legal framework to provide immediate relief to the aggrieved parties and to rectify this. Our Attorney General will take a separate application to the court on Monday morning to settle these matters.

We regret this situation. It is not something that the government can solve. A commercial dispute and dispute between two companies. We must first respect the decision of the court. If there is a shortcoming after that, we have to go to court and present it respectfully and change it. ”
