A group of Sri Lanka People's Front (SLPP) MPs have suggested to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that the country's economic problems should be given more priority instead of trying to bring in constitutional amendments.
The group had suggested this during a discussion with the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday (June 5).
MP Wimalaweera Dissanayake stated that about 12 members of the Sri Lanka People's Front were present at the discussion.
He said that it was proposed to give priority to the economic issue and if the constitutional amendments are not brought, the ruling party will split into two.
Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Minister of Justice, former Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Pavithra Wanniarachchi were also present at the discussion.
