President Gotabhaya's request to Russian President Putin

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says that he had a very productive telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The President has mentioned this in a note on his official Twitter account.

The President has thanked the Russian government for its support to overcome the past challenges and has also requested for loan assistance to import fuel to Sri Lanka to overcome the current economic challenges.

Also, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has requested the Russian President to resume Aeroflot flight operations there.

The President's Twitter message further states that they unanimously agreed that strengthening bilateral relations in sectors such as tourism, trade and culture is the priority for strengthening the existing friendship between the two nations.
